About
Welcome to Crunching Numbers.
This blog is the result of various things. Firstly, some of you know that I have had numerous blogs before this one, which unfortunately met their demise after a very short life, due mostly to lack of interest and content. This blog is my latest attempt at maintaining my personal corner of the web, to provide my readers with substantial and enlightening content. I plan to keep this blog, and thus hope that people will continue to return to read, review and provide input on my thoughts.
You may be wondering why I chose the title Crunching Numbers. Well, in case you didn’t realize this by now, this blog is far from centered around accounting or mathematics of any kind. The phrase was brought to my attention at this year’s Cedar Lakes Summer Camp 2007, as I was working on the camp video for the evening session. At the time I was working on converting a MPEG-4 video clip to a QuickTime movie so it could be imported into Adobe Premiere, our video editing software of choice this year. As I was running the video through Compressor (part of the FinalCut Pro suite), Joe Regas was beginning to feel impatient, and advised that I start crunching numbers. The real attractiveness of this phrase was in its utter irrelevance to what I was doing, and thus the phrase “crunching numbers” became a major part of my life, and is now the title of this blog.
And so, I present Crunching Numbers as my virtual repository of insights, ponderings and on some occasions, utterly irrelevant and off-the-wall comments on the goings on of life.
